A 160 m2 apartment project in Moscow

The owners of this apartment wanted their interior to be reminiscent of Paris, with which they have pleasant memories, while also incorporating elements of old Moscow interiors, familiar and beloved. It was important for us to maintain a balance: respecting the building’s modern architectural style (the residential complex, designed by a well-known architectural bureau), take into account the owners' wishes for Parisian interiors without turning the project into unnecessary stylisation, reflecting the owners' interest in vintage elements and historical Moscow interiors.

According to the original developer's plan, the apartment was designed as a combined living-dining area with only two bedrooms. However, our task was to accommodate a master bedroom with a dressing room and a bathroom, and a block for three children with their own bedrooms, shared dressing room and bathroom.

We succeeded. In addition to the common living-dining room with an open kitchen — important for the owners, who love to host guests — the apartment has sufficient storage space and a laundry room with a dedicated area for bathing the family’s golden retriever.

The key thing that we managed, despite the complexities of the original layout, is to keep the entrance to the common area on the axis of the window with a beautiful view.
The color palette arose from the airiness of the apartment, its lighting, the view from the windows. The shades of the houses on the avenue, the blue sky and the brick walls of the old factory on the riverbank, visible from some rooms - all of these elements subtly found their way into the interior’s palette, creating a space that feels harmonious and connected to its surroundings.
